Married Hellen Livingston, 1 Feb 1858, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. No children born to this couple.

Brothers, Henry and Joseph Watts, emigrated from England to America. They came to Utah in 1857 with the Elder Ellsworth Company. Joseph driving an ox team, Henry and wife Eliza pulling a handcart, all the way across the plains. They endured many hardships, hunger mostly, as they were put on half rations most of the way.

After living in Salt Lake City, Utah four years, Joseph met and married Hellen Livingston. The two brothers and their wives came to Smithfield, Cache, Utah, 1 May 1860. They took up residency in the Fort in Smithfield.
