About Joseph Woodworth, Jr.

"Little Compton Families", page 801. On 23 Feb. 1733/1734 Joseph Woodworth and his son Joseph Jr. both sold their homes to Nathaniel Searles Jr. of Little Compton. Land in Little Compton containing 48 acres, the two 24 acre lots (22nd and 23rd in number) among the 24 acre lots and bounded west on highway, east upon Cole Brook line, north on land if Israel Shaw, south on the land of Mr. Richard Billings and partly on the land of Joseph Woodworth Jr., together with all housing and buildings.

"The Descendants of Walter Woodworth", by William Atwater Woodworth, page 65. Joseph Woodowrth married in 1694 and moved to Little Compton, RI where his two children were born. He afterward moved to Lebanon, CT, where he owned lands, in 1739, as appears from the record of a deed by him to his sons.

"Volume I: The Woodworth Family of America", by Jeanette Woodworth Behan, 1988, page 32. Joseph Woodworth lived his married life at Little Compton until around 1734 when they went to Lebanon. Little Compton deeds [17:105], then Bristol County, Mass. Bay, 1 March 1725/6, Joseph Woodworth of Little Compton sold acreage to Elihu Woodworth for 850 pounds, he, Joseph haveing "a good and perfect estate of inheritance in fee simple." Rebecca, his wife, released her dower rights the next day.
