About Joseph Wratt

Joseph is said to have walked from Springrove, Nelson, to Grovetown, Marlborough to join his older half brother George when aged 16.

He married Mary Robinson and became a sheep farmer at Waikakaho.

I presume he was named after his half brother Joseph, who died along with his mother Jane Ratt, (nee Bacon) in 1840 and are buried together in St Mary's Chuchyard in Nottingham, England.

Joseph and Mary had 15 children, and 3 stillborn babies
