About Joseph Zook
KgEz gives death as 1869 MC gives burial as April 2, 1868, p 385 - Joseph at age 21 assumed the lead at his father's death in petitioning the court for a partition of the estate. He then took the merchant mill near Belleville at the appraised value of 1108 lbs. Four years later he relaized a good profit by selling the mill for 2500 lbs, more than double the purchase price. That fall, 1811, the family moved "up the valley" to near Allensville where they purchased 186 acres of the Sharon Manor from the King brothers and two years later, additional land from George Swartzell. These properties were sold in 1848 and 1854 to sons Christian and Jonas.
