Joshua Brainard Ely, East Haddam, Conn., b. 1809, d. 1877, son of Ichabod Lyman Ely and Elizabeth Brainard; m. 1831, Lodama Phelps, Canton, Conn., who was b. 1808, d. 1836, dau. of Noble Phelps and ; m. 2nd, 1837, Laura Ashcraft, Willimantic, Conn., who was b. 1810, d. 1861, dau. of Edward Ashcraft and Sarah Taylor; m. 3rd, 1862, Laura Ann Chalker, Saybrook, Conn., who was b.1823, dau. of John Beaumont and Lucy Watrous.
