Nathan and Sarah Ann lineage--from Grace Wakely self published book
Nathan apparently was always called "Jake". He is described as having long, shoulder length, black, curly hair. The land he owned was not measured in acrs, but by miles and was located along the shores of Saginaw Bay, Tuscola County, MI. It was left to him by his father in his father's will. He bought and sold cattle and owned/operated a thrashing machine. The Indian reservation was on or adjacent to his land, which was five miles long and one and one-half mildes wide. He spoke and understood the local language.
At the time of his marriage to Ann (Sarah), he was 32 yrs old and she was 16. Some of the accounts say her name was Ann, other places indicate her name as Sarah Ann.They had 6 children: Charles (died as a young man); Albert (Al); Elizabeth (Lib); Ella; Franklin (Frank), and Margaret.
Grace married John Wakely.
Mary married Joseph Davis; they had two sons, both of whom died shortly after birth.
Thomas married Rose Arsenault; they had three children: Rayfield, Grace, and Ellen.
Sarah Ann Gardner Terry Mavis had several brothers and sisters. Her brothers were: Tom, John, Caukins, Alex, and Eli. Her sisters were: Mary, Jane, Rebecca, and Hannah. There was one other sister who married a man named James Luce.
