Jotham Rice, (son of James, grandson of Thomas, great grandson of Edmund), born 17 Feb 1696. Married Mary (or Mercy) Earl, daughter of Ralph and Mary (Carr) Earl. Mary was born 13 Mar 1708.
Jotham removed from Newport, RI, to Worcester (MA) about 1734, and thence to Rutland District (Barre) MA, before 1749, where he died 17 Nov 1782 in his 86th year. His widow, Mary, died there in 1803, aged 97. They had 14 children; the births of only 3 are found on record, and the names of 3 are unknown.
The will of Jotham Rice, proved 23 Dec 1783, gave to wife, Mary; to sons, Daniel, Jotham, James and Benjamin; to daughters Violetta (Violata) Gates, Elizabeth Wilder, Martha Walker, Mary Howe, Mercy Rice, and Prudence Rice; John Mason and his son, Benjamin, Executors.
