Joyce Philip Barr

Joyce Philip Barr of Emporia entered into rest Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. She was 79.

Joyce was born October 28, 1940 in Hays, Kansas to Ward R. and Mildred Pauline (Lusebrink) Philip. She married David Hurt and they had two children. David and Joyce later divorced. On July 1, 2000 she married Bryan Barr and she retired the same day as a teacher from Village Elementary School in Emporia.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Bryan Barr of the home; son, Dean Hurt of Corvallis, Oregon; daughter, Jana Grimm of San Diego, California; stepson, Lee Barr of Canton, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Memorials to Pittsburg State University Scholarship Fund c/o Charter Funerals.
