Burrell was a judge and served in the house of representatives from 1837-1844. He was a prominent lawyer in Glasgow but he's not known for that as much as for the fact that he killed his daughter Elizabeth's new husband shortly after they were married. They had eloped and he didn't think it was legal. Elizabeth was only 15 at the time. Ironically, she ended up married to Wm E. Wade a few months later when she turned 16 and moved to Louisville, but killed herself when she was 35.
