About Judge Edward Frost

Edward Frost, the son of Thomas Frost and wife Elizabeth Downes, was born on April 27, 1801 in Charleston, South Carolina. He died July 21, 1868 at home, 128 Tradd St, Charleston, SC. He was buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC. He married Harriet Vanderhorst Horry and raised six children.

Edward Frost was an Associate Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court. After 10 years, he resigned to devote his time to farming his wife's recently inherited Fairfield Plantation in St. Andrew's Parish. Later, he became President of the Blue Ridge Railroad, which was never finished due to the Civil War.

  • Elizabeth Frost Parker (1839 - 1927), married Francis Le Jau Parker
  • Henry William Frost (1841 - 1926), married Susan Francis Hampton Preston. At the outbreak of the War between the States he at once entered the service of his state, and later of the Confederate States, and served as a lieutenant in the First regiment of the South Carolina artillery throughout the war.
  • Anne Branford Frost Lowndes (1845 - 1935), married Thomas Pinckney Lowndes
  • Edwin Parker Frost (1846 - 1927), married (1) Mary Coachman McKay and (2) Alice Weston Rutledge
  • William Branford Frost (1848 - 1917), married Emma Middleton Huger.
