Biography

Julia Snow was born about 1844. She was the daughter of Moses Snow and his wife, Elizabeth (Jenkins) Snow. The family were from Brewster, Barnstable County (Cape Cod), Massachusetts, USA.

The 1850 US Census stated:[1]

"Julia Snow lived in Barnstable County, Massachusetts in 1850. Julia was born in Massachusetts around 1844, making her ~6 years old in 1850. [Julia Snow lived in the household of Moses Snow and his wife, Elizabeth. Eight siblings are also listed: Hannah Snow, age 20; Sarah Snow, 19; Tamson [sic=Tamsin] Snow, 18; Edward Snow, 16; Mercy Snow, 13; Bethia Snow, 11; Clara Snow, age 9; Zebina Snow, 4.]" The 1860 Census reported: [2]

" Julia Snow lived in Barnstable County, Massachusetts in 1860. Julia was born in Mass around 1843, making her ~17 years old in 1860. [In 1860, Julia Snow lived with her parents: Moses & Elizabeth Snow and 2 sisters: Clara Snow, age 20, and Zebina Snow, age 14.]" After the 1860 Census, Julia Snow married Alpheus Cahoon. They lived in Brewster, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. By the 1870 Census they had 2 children:[3]

Alpheus F. Cahoon, b: June 1861 (by 1900 Census) Ann L. Cahoon, b: 1867 The family "disappears" from the Census records in 1880 (1890 is not publicly-available online) but Alpheus F. Cahoon, b: June 1861, Massachusetts, reappears in 1900, married and living in Wellfleet, Barnstable Co., Massachusetts, USA. His parents apparently died between 1870-1900. [4]

This tallies with family history that says Julia (Snow) Cahoon died around 1876.
