About Julia Edelman
Per Marion Benjamin Roth - Julia "and her husband, Edward Edelman, moved to Florida after owning a drygoods store in Detroit and then in Cleveland. They moved to Florida where they purchased an orange grove at Mt. Dora, Florida where they lived until they both passed away.
'
Per Grace Edelman Tatar - 'My mother was the first one to go to school and when she was asked her name she said "Shippner". the teacher spelled it Spanner and that is how they arrived at this name. [As I now have found at least one possible relative with the surname Spinner/Spiner, I wonder how far off Julia was. ME 8/22/2022]
Per the 1920 US census (Cleveland, Ohio), Julia's arrival in the US matches that of her mother Rachel/Rose Spanner in 1888. Julia and Ed are recorded as saleslady and merchant, respectively, in Dry Goods, and employed. Grace and Bernard are also listed as daughter (age 11) and son (age 8), on January 20, 1920. Her marriage record gives 1882 (estimated) as her birth year. (Marguerite Elliott entry)
Julia's mother, Rachel Spanner, lived with the Edelmans at 3115 Devonshire Ave., in Cleveland.
