Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Peck, 76, who died at her home in Coleridge Thursday afternoon, March 17, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Congregational Church in Coleridge and interment was in the Hartington Cemetery. Rev. Benjamin McKeen, pastor of the Logan View Church at Coleridge, had charge of services assisted by Rev. W.W. Rowden pastor of the Congregational Church at Coleridge. Pallbearers were Chas Fleener and Anton Broderson of Coleridge and Frank Anthony and Henry Hirschman of Hartington and John Bauer Mrs. Peck, who since her husband‘s death a year ago, has lived alone, suffered a stroke Tuesday of last week, and was found lying on a cot in her home in a semiconscious condition by a neighbor, Mrs. Lizzie Barron. A physician was called who diagnosed her condition as being due to gall trouble. Mrs. Peck, formerly Miss Julia Wohlman, was born in Milwaukee, Wis., April 18, 1856 to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Wohlman. When she was 17 years old she came to Cedar County with her parents. In 1875 on November 4, Julia Wohlman and Henry Merrick were united in marriage at Vermillion, SD., Two daughters were born to this union. Sara, now Mrs. Frank Specht of Coleridge, and Mary, later Mrs. Elmer Miller who died in Texas in 1918. Mr. Merrick passed away December 3, 1877, and three years later Mrs. Merrick and Nelson Peck were married on January 10, 1881. Mr. and Mrs. Peck moved to Coleridge in 1910 where Mr. Peck died February 1, 1931. Mrs. Peck is survived by her daughter Mrs. Frank Specht and three stepchildren. Mrs. A.L. Jones, Geddes, SD., and Fred and Herman Peck also of South Dakota.
