"Sadly, his Max Justin Ottenstein's] young and active life was cut tragically short by a malicious disease. He died in his early thirties, deeply mourned by his inconsolable wife and two young daughters. ... The monumental task of maintaining that which had been built up and brought to flourish over a long period of time fell to Julius. Up until his brother's death, he had co-managed the business ... Two still very young sons of my late brother-in-law Albert were on hand to lend their support, but because of their younger age alone, they were unable to contribute any more than the keen will to serve the business interests. Today both are junior partners in the firm." -- My Family and Friends" by Ignaz Bing, 1916.
