"Two daughters [of Hirsch Erlanger and Pauline Birgstein Erlanger] married in Neustadt: Antonia in 1897 to the engineer and reserve lieutenant Julius Rosenthal from Cannstadt [now Bad Cannstatt, Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany], and Rosa to the general practitioner Dr. Berhard Elsberg from the Nave of Bremerhaven, but was soon divorced. The sons Theodor, Arthur, and Ludwig attended the Realschule between 1893 and 900, and after the death of their father they took over the business line."

Cannstadt. Am 30 Januar vershied nach kurzer Kranheit Julius Rosenthal, der bis vor wenigen Jahren als Direktor der Maschinenfabrik Esslingen tätig war. Rosenthal trat als junger Ingenieur in das genannte Werk ein. Seine ausgezeichneten Fachkenntnisse und sein unendlicher Fleiss fanden bald die Anerkennung seiner Vorgesetzten. Er gründete und organisierte in dem Essinger Werk die Abteilung für Hebewerkzeuge, deren Erzeugnise bald grossen Absatz fanden. Nach seiner Zuruhesetzung vertrat Rosenthal eine Anzahl der bedeatuensten Industriewerke seines Faches.

On the death of Julius Rosenthal, former director of Maschinenfabrik Esslingen (1931) Article in the "Gemeinde-Zeitung for the Israelite Communities Württembergs "of March 1, 1931:

Cannstadt. Julius Rosentha died, on the 30th of January, after a short illness; he was a few years ago director of Maschinenfabrik Esslingen. Rosenthal entered the said plant as a young engineer. His excellent expertise and his infinite diligence soon found the recognition of his superiors. He founded and organized in the Essingen Works the Department of Lifting Tools, whose products will soon be sold. After his retirement, Rosenthal represented a number of the most important industrial plants of his trade.
