Rutherford, Julius - entered service 1776 in Wythe County, Virginia, in 12th Regiment; received Pension 1818 age 62-63 in Knox County, Tennessee, resided Anderson County, Tennessee when had wife mentioned but not named; then crippled (injured from fall from horse in Revolutionary War service) had no occupation; soldier's brother Finny made affidavit age 79 in Lee County, Virginia, 1852 he was several years younger than soldier, & soldier went to North Carolina where he married his cousin Rhoda Rutherford, brought her to Virginia soon after marriage, where they had 2-3 children, then moved to Kentucky, then to Knox County, Tennessee, thence to Anderson County, Tennessee, where soldier died, Finnny made addidavit per County Justice of the Peace Pierce Rutherford (no kinship given); soldier's wife applied for pension 1837 in Knox Sounty, Tennessee, & Pension Application Rejected, insufficient proof of marriage; widow died 5/17/1839 in Anderson County, Virginia, leaving heirs (all surname Rutherford except noted): Isaac, Jacob, Abram, Robert, Rachel Milton, William, Joseph, John, Nancy Whitten & Thomas, Mary Rutherford made affidavit at age 81 in Knox County, Tennessee, in 1852 she raised in North Carolina, married soldier's brother Abraham in Tennessee (area not Knox County), moved to Wythe County, Virginia, for 6-7 years where neighbors of soldier, thence back to Knox County, Tennessee, abt. 1792; widow of son William applied for pension age 65 there in 1853 stating parents had 13 children, that Michael Coatney & wife Sarah had previously testified they were at soldier's wedding but now Michael & Sarah are deceased; widow's heir Rubert Rutherforrd gave power of attorney 1855 in Anderson County, Tennessee, to agent to apply for pension for self & other heirs; heir William Rughterford gave power of attorney 1854 in Knox county, Tennessee, to agent to apply for pension; all heirs Pension Application Rejected.
