About Juraj Avaljanin Runović

http://www.runovici.hr/povijest.html

Tribe Runović lived in today Runović in the sixteenth and seventeenth century. This proves stability of eight eminent monks of that period. Some of them were very influential, educated and respected. They point out that of Imotski. In a document dating from 1599. However, when building a church of Sts. Michael in Raščane, states that it was for life Matija Runovići, principality Tome ričić. Knezija at the time marked the later glavarluk. So that's Matija born within Biokovo villages. Most likely it was in Libin which extends from the Sebisina Umljane and Podosoje. There were until recently lived old Runovici tribes. Tribe was missing. Most likely emigrated to the coast. This was done in many biokovska imotska tribes. We could conclude that Runovići moved to Podgora. We have credible evidence. Don Paul Runović was born in Podgora 8 January 1665. He was parish priest in his native place. When the Venetian authorities in 1725 divided the land to individual families in Imotski, here we find and Don Paul Runovići. Zadar cadastre recorded the properties that are assigned to him in the area of the present village Runović.
