Käthe Sachs (Berlin 1883--Salt Lake City 1962) was the daughter of Immanuel Sachs and Minna Lachmann Sachs (sister of Louis Lachmann). Their other children were Eva Sachs, 1882-1936, who was a brilliant classical scholar but died in a mental institution in Vienna, and Hans Sachs, a physician (1885-1933).
Käthe Sachs was married to a cousin of hers whose name was Eduard Sachs. He was often ill, and died after just a few years of marriage. She remained a widow.
She visited her cousins, Hermann Fraenkel and his wife Lilli, for about a year in 1936 in Stanford, California before she had to go back to Germany.
Käthe was also a cousin of Vera Lachmann (Minna's brother's daughter), and through another aunt the cousin of Rosi Maass Bodenheimer. Kate lived with Edgar Bodenheimer (Rosi's son) and his family in Washington DC and later Salt Lake City, UT after making her escape from Nazi Germany. Her escape routed her through Shanghai to Mexico to Nogales, Arizona (on Nov 1940), and finally to the Bodenheimer family in Washington D.C.
Escaped Nazi Germany to Shanghai to Mexica to Arizona to Salt Lake City.
