Karla Kay Walsh

Karla Kay Walsh Karla Kay Walsh (nee Christian), 57, of Crest Hill passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on November 24, 2009 at Palos Community Hospital. Born March 26, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jerry and LaWanda Christian. Graduated from Reed-Custer High School in 1970 and married to Daniel Joseph Walsh on August 31, 1974. Survived by her children Jayne Jackson, Brad (Krista) Walsh, and Tiffany (Mike) Walsh, stepmother Marie Christian, siblings Michelle (Gary) Walter, Linda (Terry) Wilder, Randy Christian, Brian (Ann) Christian, Scott (Lynn) Christian, and Paul (Kendra) Christian, uncle Lynn (Mary) Christian, mother in law Marie Walsh, sisters in law Marianne (Vic) Governale, and Kathleen Walsh, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lovingly known as "Grandma Gummy" to her three grandchildren Ryerson, Reilly, and Calloway. Preceded in death by her father Jerry Christian (2007), husband Daniel Walsh (1995), and her mother LaWanda Christian (1962). Karla will be remembered through stories and memories of her wittiness and her quirks. She was truly one of a kind. Married in 1974, three children, three grandchildren. Lost husband in 1995 to cancer. I have the family's hereditary disorder of OPMD ~ oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy, diabetes, thyroid disease, and was adversely affected by West Nile Neuroinvasive in Aug 2005.

Back in the day, I use to play women's softball and bowled. Enjoyed watching my husband's band, Chances Are, for several decades. And visits to Ames, Iowa to see gramma Twiggy (Lillian) and other family.
