About Katheryne Baylor Hamilton

From “Work Family History”, vol. I (1969) & vol. II (1994), compiled by Von Gail Hamilton.

Katheryne taught English, Latin, history and music at Rolla Rural High School before marriage to her college sweetheart. She headed the primary and junior departments of the church school at the First United Presbysterian Church in Hutchinson (KS) most of the time since 1938; later became Christian Education Director in 1960. She did substitute teaching. Katheryne was always interested in writing and put out the church newspaper periodically.

The family resided at Hutchinson, KS. The Hamiltons had a foster son - Arnold Ying-Ho Lee - from Hong Kong. The young people of the church paid his way and expenses to attend Hutchinson Jr. College. Since then he graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering, received his masters and was studying for his doctorate at the University of WI at Madison. He continues to call the Hamilton house "home" and spends his vacations with them.
