"Walter Barraclough was wounded at the second Battle of the Somme on 29 October 1918 during World War I (1914-1918). Later in life he was able to share with his family his harrowing experiences in the trenches; of the mud, snow and bitter cold while surrounded by the injured and dying but unable to help them.
