After piecing together my entire family tree through information I have found on the internet, I decided to validate my findings by taking some DNA tests. Since I was adopted by my stepfather, I wanted to validate my YDNA (Paternal side) of the family and find out what my hereditary surname is. After looking through all of the results it has become evident that I am a McGillen.

My Maternal ancestors started many townships and settlements in the "New World" I am a descendant of Degory Priest, Mayflower Passenger, (11th great grandfather) through his daughter Mary Pratt and son in law Phineas Pratt.

One branch of our family history is documented greatly with the book "Robert Coe, Puritan His Ancestors and Descendants 1340-1910 with Notices of Other Coe Families" By J. Gardner Bartlett.Robert Coe, Sr.

My goal is to put as much together for the surviving members of our family, and also to tie in with distant family members, who have the same goals. FYI folks, If you want to construct a private tree, Geni is not the place to do that. This is a place where we share our genealogical connections, and collaborate together to build a worldwide tree of interconnected people.
