About Kenneth Gordon Matheson, Sr
He was educated at the Carolina military institute, Charlotte, N. C. and the Citadel, Charleston, S.C.
He took an M.A. degree at Leland Stanford University, Palo alto, Calif., and at Columbia university. he was litt.d. from the University of Pennsylvania and LL.d. from Washington and lee University.
He taught at the Missouri military academy; was commandant of cadets and assistant professor of English at the university of Tennessee; was elected head of the department of English at Georgia tech in 1898 and later became president of that institution, remaining there until 1921.
He then became President of Drexel Institute, Philadelphia, and remained there until his death in 1931.
He was President of the Pennsylvania State Teachers Association at the time of his death and was an elder in both the north avenue Presbyterian church, Atlanta, and Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia

<ul> Noted Educator Dies At Home In Bryn Mawr
PHILADELPHIA. Nov. 29. — Dr. Kenneth G. Matheson. noted educator and for the past ten days president of Drexol institute, died at his home in Bryn Mawr today.
He was 67 years old.
Dr. Matheson suffered a severe heart attack Friday.
Definite funeral arrangements have not yet been made but it was announced that Dr. Matheson will be buried at Cheraw, S. C., the family home. He is survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters

Funeral Services At Cheraw Yesterday
CHERAW, S. C., Dec. 2— (AP) - Dr. Kenneth O. Matheson, distinguished educator and president of Drexel Institute of Philadelphia WBS burled In ancient St. David's cemetery in the town of his birth here this morning.
Delegations from Philadelphia from Georgia Tech, Atlanta, of which Dr. Matheson was formerly president, and other widely separated points attended the rites.
Dr. Matheson died Sunday at his home at Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Simple services were conducted at the Wrst Presbyterian church, Dr. A. H. McArn, pastor, officiated, assisted by Dr. Gordon Matheson, a cousin of the educator.
The body was then laid to rest In St. David's cemetery, where several distinguished South Carolinians are buried. Dr. Matheson's body was brought here on a special car of his friend, General 'A'. W. Atterbury, president of the Pennsylvania Railroad
