About Kenneth John McAlpine
Cause of Death: Lung Cancer Obituary: Former Dunwich Township Reeve Kenneth J. McAlpine of RR 1 Dutton died Wednesday morning, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital in his 57th year. Born in Dunwich Township on a farm on which he resided all his life, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Gertrude (Morrison) McAlpine. He was a prominent West Elgin auctioneer and worked for the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Livestock Division at Talbotville and the Thames Sales Yard at Thamesville. He also carried on a private farm operation as well as many private sales over the years. Mr. McAlpine was president of the Dunwich Mutual Fire Insurance Co., Dutton, and a former reeve of Dunwich Township. He was a Township Councillor in 1964, 1965; Deputy Reeve 1966, 1967 and 1968 and 1970. He was a member of the executive for the Dutton Highland Games, and a member of the Board of Managers of Argyle Presbyterian Church, Crinan. He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah McCallum; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jane) Forster of Lucan and Laura McAlpine at home; one son, Malcolm at home; three brothers Robert of London, Donald of Toronto and James of Ottawa, and one grand daughter, Tara Megan Forster. Resting at the Cyril J. Beill Funeral Home, Dutton until 12:30 pm Friday October 29 when removal will be made to Argyle Presbyterian Church, Crinan, where funeral will be held at 2:30 pm with Rev. Stanley Andrew officiated. Interment in Fairview Cemetery.
