Kenneth Travis, 58, Last Rites Were Held August 9
Graveside services for Kenneth Rex Travis, 58, of Clarinda, were held August 9 at Dallas Center Cemetery. Mr. Travis died August 7 in Leon, Ia.
Kenneth Rex Travis was born on October 20, 1919, at New Market, Taylor County, Iowa. He was the fourth child and third son of Earl Custer and Gertrude Alice Novinger Travis. He grew to maturity in New Market where he attended public school, and after his military service returned to Clarinda, Iowa, where he made his home.
Kenneth served as a machine gunner during World War II in the United States Army, Company M, 169th Infantry. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Medal and received an honorable discharge on October 27, 1943.
Preceding Kenneth in death were his mother and father, and a sister Leta [Irene] Mankle.
He leaves two brothers, Merle of Bedford, Iowa, and Earl Duane of Clarinda, Iowa; one niece; three nephews; and nine grandnieces and nephews, and numerous cousins.
Kenneth was a kind and considerate man.
