Ken de Wardener, 70, passed away peacefully on August 15th. Born in New York City, son of the late Baron Edouard de Wardener and the late Aurelie de Mauriac Murchison. Mr. de Wardener was a regional recruiting manager for Wheaton Industries and Heublein Incorporated. A proud father, he leaves behind 3 beautiful daughters: Lynne Burris of NY, Laurie Palmisciano of CA, and Kim Markarian of East Greenwich; his brothers, Anthony of Narragansett, RI, Max of Exeter, RI, and half brother Hugh de Wardener of London, England. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. An enthusiastic storyteller, writer, and sketch artist, his greatest inspiration in life has always been his mother. Ken was the grandson of Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison a noted New York architect and Baron Rudolph de Wardener who came to the US from Austria to take part in the American Civil War. His great-grandfathers were Colonel Kenneth MacKenzie Murchison, CSA and Field Marshall August Reud de Wardener of Austria-Hungary. Ken spent much of his childhood at the Dunes Club in Narragansett of which his grandparents were founding members. An honorably discharged USAF Veteran, he had previously resided in North Carolina, Jamestown, ND and Narragansett, RI. A memorial service will be held 11 am on Monday August 25th, at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central St. Narragansett. Burial with military honors will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Narragansett Firefighters, P.O. Box 3344 Narragansett, RI 02882-0799.
