Kevin Launspach (1975 - 2013)
Kevin (38), owner of the Log Coffee & Cocktail Lounge in Queensburgh, was shot dead in the driveway of his sister’s home on the night of Thursday 18th October, in front of his wife and family at Glen Place, Moseley Park, Pinetown, Durban, KZN.

Kevin's wife, Lindsey, was in the passenger seat, and his sister Bronwen seated in the back. His brother-in-law, Henry Coetser, was locking the front gate when he saw a car drive up the road. Initially they thought the driver was lost. The three men jumped out the car with firearms. Henry was was pushed onto the ground by one of the perpetrators, who ripped off his neck chain and held a gun against his head. The others went to Kevin's vehicle and took all the women's handbags. Henry said during the commotion he heard one of the suspects say “don’t look up,” and he heard a gunshot.
One of the attackers grabbed Kevin’s wallet from his pocket and his firearm, after which they fled in their vehicle.
Henry he took Launspach out of the car to administer CPR. He knew that an ambulance might take too mcuch time, so he put Kevin in the back seat of his car and drove to the nearest hospital. He realised along the way that he was already dead.
Kevin, who lived in Northdene, leaves behind Lindsay, and his two children Carma (3) and Mason (23 months).
