Keziah Ridge

Many researchers list Keziah Ridge as a wife for Jabez Jarvis. Unfortunately, no documents are found to prove that she lived. If she existed, she was born c.1735-1745 in North Carolina and died c.1830 in North Carolina. She would [probably not] have been the daughter of William and Winifred or Winnford Ridge.

The story about Keziah RIDGE first surfaced in the 1981 publication of the Buncombe County Heritage book. I believe it was mainly the result of a mistransciption of the name "Rezia". The estate settlement for William and Winnford RIDGE was a lengthy process. All the children were named. The only "Kezia" mentioned was the daughter of a slave.

Many feel that the Keziah story stems from confusion about Jabez Jarvis's son Rezia Jarvis.
