Arrived in Philadelphia on Sept. 26 1752 aboard the 'Richard and Mary' and remained in Lancaster Co. for a few years. First referenced in present day Shenandoah County Va. in Nov. 1760 when Adam "Darting" had land surveyed in Shenandoah. A tract of 349 acreson the west side of the North fork on the west side of the Shenandoah.

Johann Adam Derting appears on a list of people who took Communion with the Reverend Carl Lange, a Reformed minister who preached and administerd sacrements at Strasberg, Va in Aug 1767.
