Koos Erasmus (1955 - 2014)

Brief overview:

Koos (59), and his wife Martie, who ran a guest house in the Sumsaren game reserve, near Groot Marico, were attacked in their home on 23rd March 2014. The three perpetrators who invaded the house through a bathroom window, were armed with panga's and a firearm.

Koos was shot dead and passed away at the scene. Martie was attacked with a panga and forced to open the safe.

  • In May 2016 Gabriel Mothusi Mogale was sentenced in the High Court in Mahikeng, North West, to 30 years in prison.
  • According to Frank Lesenyego, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, the other two suspects were released, as there was not enough evidence against them. Only Mogale was linked to the scene by DNA.
