About Kreina Riva/Beckie Singer
Death record says born October 28,1852. Sept 4 1895 birth certificate of her daughter Rose says that she is 42 years old (born 1852/3). 1900 census says born March 1854. Hebrew name Kerana Riva. Do not know her town of origin, though it may be Telsiai, Lithuania, as that was where Abraham Singer wrote in 1919 that his parents were married in 1870, though no marriage record could be found in Telz records. Could not find records for her Altman family in Lithuanian revision lists from 1834 or 1856. Her brothers settled in Rome and Utica, NY. She brought her candlesticks from the old country, wrapped in her shawl. She arrived in the US (from Hamburg to NYC) with her children on June 5, 1885, about 20 months after her husband came over.
