About Lacy Ellis Lastinger
GEDCOM Note === According to Lastinger by William Thomas Lastinger (1946), he was a Lieutenant in Company K 29th Georgia Regiment, CSA. He was an attorney in Adel, Georgia. According to The William henry Griffin papers, Volume I, Part II, his father moved in 1847 from dupont to the Joshua Lee place now known as the Banks Mill place. This is where Lacy grew up. He was educated in common schools of the county until 1872, when he studied law and was admitted to the Bar in Nashville in 1874. He enlisted in service under Captain John C. Lamb (co. K, 29th Ga. Regiment Volunteers)_ and was captured in the close of the war and carried to Sandusky, Ohio where he escaped from prison and walked across frozen Lake Erie a mile or two from the Island Camp. He was continuously in the practice of law in Berrien and Cook Counties since admission to bar in 1874. For a while was engaged in the turpentine business in northeast Berrien County and at the same time was engaged in farming. He later practiced law in Adel, Georgia.
