Lady Margaret Gordon was the daughter of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly and Annabella Stewart.[1]

She married Patrick Hepburn, 1st Earl of Bothwell, son of Adam Hepburn, Master of Hailes and Helen Home, circa 21 February 1490/91.[2] A contract for the marriage of Lady Margaret Gordon and Patrick Hepburn, 1st Earl of Bothwell was signed on 21 February 1490/91.[1]

From circa 21 February 1490/91, her married name became Hepburn.[2] As a result of her marriage, Lady Margaret Gordon was styled as Countess of Bothwell circa 21 February 1490/91.
