Lady Mary Hamilton was born between 1641 and 1648. She was the daughter of William Hamilton, 2nd Duke of Hamilton and Lady Elizabeth Maxwell. She married by contract, firstly, Alexander Livingston, 2nd Earl of Callendar, son of Alexander Livingstone, 2nd Earl of Linlithgow and Lady Mary Douglas, on 25 August 1663. She married by contract, secondly, Sir James Livingston, 1st Bt. on 28 June 1690.1 She married, thirdly, James Ogilvy, 3rd Earl of Findlater, son of Patrick Ogilvy, 2nd Earl of Findlater and Elizabeth Ogilvy, after 1691. She died, without issue. From 25 August 1663, her married name became Livingston.1 As a result of her marriage, Lady Mary Hamilton was styled as Countess of Callendar in March 1674. From after 1691, her married name became Ogilvy.
