About Lars Jonassen Havstad
They married on July 8 1901
Lars inherited the farm Torp and in 1903 he sold that farm to his uncle Øven Larsen Hesthagen and moved to Gunda’s farm four kilometres away. The Torp farm went out of the Vatne-Torp family after 68 years but Per Loland Vaaje who lives at Havstad with his wife and daughters, owns some of the forest which was not part of the original sale. Lars died when he was 29 years old in an accident. He had delivered some people at a wedding and he had been drinking and not taking due care, his horse bolted and he was dragged after the carriage for many metres. He left behind his wife Gunda and their two young daughters Ruth and Karen. Gunda ran the farm for 40 years until Ruth took it over .
