This is my 2x great grandfather. His parents were Lars Joremeland Larson with his first wife Malene Jonesdatter Bjornhus .

Lars immigrated from Hjelmeland, Rogaland, Norway in the summer of 1861 on the sailing ship Iris. He was onboard with his parents, siblings, and his children. He first lived in LaSalle Illinois. He then married Mary (Maria) Hansdttr (Hansen) on January 27, 1863 at LaSalle, Illinois. After a few years they move the family to Pontiac, Illinois.
In 1870 they are living in Esmen, Livingston, Illinois.

In the fall of 1884 Lars moves his family to Mitchell, South Dakota. A few years after that, he moves the family onto a farm in Franklin Township (Wellington Springs) Jerauld County, South Dakota.

Lars is last seen in records in 1902 in Blendon twp, Davison County, SD.

A newspaper post from the fall of 1907 says Lars Larson sells his land to (his son in law) Ole Lindebak, Davison County, SD.

  • So Lars death is estimated to be after the fall of 1907

As of Sept. 2021 I am still diligently looking for more information. I am traveling to North Dakota to go to the North Dakota State Archives this month in hopes of finding more information about what happened to Lars, his wife Mary, and ultimate goal of when they died and where they are buried. I will update any new info. I find.
