Laura Bell Clapham

Laura Bell Clapham, age 86 years, 6 months, 16 days, died at Heritage Care Center, Roy, Utah, on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. She was born October 6, 1922, in Ravanna, Mercer County, Missouri, to the late Chester Raymond and Maude Marie Smith Shilt.

She graduated from Ravanna High School. On December 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Francis Joseph Clapham in Princeton, Mercer County, Missouri.

Laura Bell is survived by her daughter and her husband, Nancy and Clifford Herndon, Apache Junction, Arizona; her son and his wife Charles and Juanita Clapham, Clinton, Utah; her daughter and her husband, Judy and Richard Parkhurst, Urbandale, Iowa; her son and his wife Monty and Japsea Clapham, Blue Springs, Missouri; 18 grandchildren, 44 great- grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; Three sisters, Jean Trail, Des Monies, Iowa; Goldie Wagner, Princeton, Missouri; Leta Frunish, Milan, Missouri; two brothers, Leonard Shilt, Michigan; and Robert Shilt, Bloomington, Illinois . She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, Chester and Russell and three sisters, Mary Bain, Patty Kritchard, and Thelma May, one son, Jerry Clapham and one great-grand daughter, Carman Schrock: two great-grandsons, Cameron and Cody Schrock.

Laura Bell enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid Chiefs football fan; she also enjoyed crocheting, yatzee, bingo and fun at the casinos! Laura Bell had a great laugh and enjoyed her life.
