About Laura George

Laura Livvix George, co-owner of Vision Racing competing fulltime in the Indy Racing League® IndyCar® Series, was born in Terre Haute, Ind., and raised in nearby Marshall, Ill. She attended Indiana State University, then graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute.

Laura George first became interested in racing the same way that many fans come to know the sport; the Indianapolis 500. Her uncle John Forsythe was a race team owner, but after meeting and tying the knot with husband, Tony George, in 1989, her marriage with racing was cemented as well.

Laura has worked extensively in the motorsports entertainment industry. She first joined the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1989 with a position in the accounting department, and served 13 years as Staff Advisor of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. She also previously owned a midget and Sprint car racing team.

When the opportunity arose to become a team owner once again in February 2005, the decision was easy. Now Laura’s trackside perspectives, emotions and concerns are divided amongst her role as a team co-owner and as the mother to team driver, Ed Carpenter. It’s a unique position that she’s handles with grace and poise.

Laura also works on behalf of a number of not-for-profit organizations, including the Board of Trustees of Marian College (Indianapolis) and the Benevolent Fund of Motorsports. She also sits on the Board of Directors of Indy Racing League Ministry, the Heartland Film Festival, and the Indianapolis Zoological Society.

When she is not concentrating her efforts on Vision Racing, Laura enjoys spoiling her grand children (Makenna and Ryder), caring for her horses and dogs, as well as participating in a wide range of activities. An avid fitness enthusiast, Laura enjoys pilates, snowboarding, kickboxing and has run the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon every year since 1993.

Laura and her husband, Anton H. “Tony” George, reside in Indianapolis. They have three children; Ed Carpenter, Anton “Tony” George Jr. and Lauren George.
