MEMORIAL PHOTOS 1 FLOWERS 2 HADDOCK, LAURA A. (Mar 1923, Erick Newspaper, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):

Mrs. Laura A. Haddock (nee Robertson) was born at Cypress Inn, Tennessee, September 14th, 1835, and departed this life at the home of her son in Erick, Oklahoma, Saturday evening, March 3, 1923, having lived to the ripe old age of 87 years, 5 months and 17 days.

Mrs. Haddock was married to Joshua L. Haddock at Cyrpus (sic) Inn, Tennessee, July 22, 1856. To this union God gave 8 children, three of whom crossed the Jordan of death ahead of her, as did also her husband. Five children, two sons, Rev. J. L. Haddock and R. O. Haddock both of Erick, and three daughters, Mrs. John Phillips and Mrs. Eli Smith of Erick and Mrs. J. A. Minton of Sayre survive to mourn their loss. Mrs. Haddock had for years and years been a patient sufferer. For thirty-five years she had been practically blind and for twenty years she had lived in total darkness. Aside from the dreadful affliction of blindness, Mother Haddock as she was affectionately known, had several times been the unfortunate victim of a series of painful accidents. Through it all she was never heard to grumble or complain. Mrs. Haddock had lived in this community for more than twenty years and had a wide circle of friends and a large host of relatives, who last Sunday at 3 o'clock p.m. followed her casket to the Erick Cemetery where they heard Rev. Ilus Q. McCorkle pay a fitting tribute to this wonderful old lady.
