

Laurier A. “Larry” Boisvert, 88, of North Windham, CT passed away on November 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Living Center from complications of Alzheimer’s disease and heart failure. He was surrounded in his final days by his loving family, including his beloved wife of 33 years, Dorothy T. Quirk Boisvert. Larry was born to the late Donat Boisvert and Angeline Bibeau on September 2, 1926 in Montpelier, VT.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked at and retired from Eastern Connecticut State University. He also drove for Dial-a-Ride, enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph Living Center for many years, served at Elks Club and St. Joseph’s Church bingo nights and was a faithful usher at St Joseph’s Church.
Larry LOVED music and making people smile. He played the harmonica and sang for Thread City String Band and the Old Fiddlers’club of RI, including entertaining residents of nursing homes in Connecticut and Rhode Island. He also enjoyed playing golf, ten pin bowling, going for walks, and square dancing. He was a past president of the Windham Whirlers Square Dance Club.
In addition to his devoted wife Dottie, Larry is survived by his beloved children Elaine Bernier and her husband Norman of Willimantic, Tom Boisvert and his wife Debbie of Lebanon, Donald Boisvert of Norwich, Denise Boisvert of Melrose, MA, his stepchildren Laura Harakaly and her husband Charlie of Eastford, Michael Parusa of Mansfield, a sister, Claire Giordano of Windham and brother-in-law Chuck Puleo of Willimantic, Robert J. Quirk of Sarasota, Florida and sisiter in-law Evelyn Quirk of Ashford.
He also leaves his grandchildren Mark, Matthew and Paul Bernier, Nicole Boisvert Gavis, Danielle and Keelan Boisvert, step-grandsons Michael and James Harakaly, and 9 wonderful great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, friends and special longtime friends Chuck and Noreen Morgan.
Larry was predeceased by sisters Louise Simmons, Jeanette Puleo, Lucille Sentener, Evelyn Joly and infant Helene, his brothers Eddie, Aldor and Philip Boisvert, and a stepson, James West Parusa.
Friends and family may attend visitation at Potter Funeral Home, 456 Jackson St (Rt. 195) Willimantic, CT from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 4, 2014 at St Joseph’s Church, 99 Jackson St., Willimantic. Burial with Military Color Guard Honors will follow at St Joseph’s Cemetery.
