Lavinia Elizabeth Franklin was born on October 27, 1844, daughter of John Franklin (1817-?) and Elizabeth (Hodges) Franklin Martin Beasley. She is the sister of John Franklin, Jr. (1845). She was known as "Elizabeth".

On November 10, 1870, Lavinia Elizabeth Franklin became the wife of Bassel Jones (1824-1897) in Bulloch County, GA, with the Rev. John R. Miller officiating.

Elizabeth and Bassel became the parents of 7 children including Julia A. (1872); Jack Gordon "Bosen" (1875); Daniel "Dan" Webster (1875); Thomas "Tom" Elick (1878); Margaret "Maggie" Jane (1880); Martha "Nicy or Mattie" Elizabeth (1884) and Annie (1885) Jones.

On February 23, 1906, widow Elizabeth Jones, age 61, died of acute congestion of the lungs at the home of Aden & Maggie Bland in Savannah, Chatham County, GA. She is buried in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery , Statesboro, Bulloch County, GA.
