About Lawrence Joseph O'Toole

Lawrence J. O’Toole, age 80 of Crystal, ND passed away on Tuesday, October 06, 2009 at the First Care Health Center of Park River. Lawrence J. O’Toole was born September 18, 1929 in Grafton, ND the son of the late Robert F. and Margaret (DeSautel) O’Toole. He grew up and attended school in Crystal, ND, graduating from Crystal High School. He attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND for two years. Following his education Lawrence returned to Crystal where he farmed with two of his brothers. Lawrence was united in marriage to Shirley Vavrovsky on July 6, 1957 in Grafton. The couple made their home near Crystal. Lawrence also owned and operated O’Toole Radio and TV for over 30 years.

He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Crystal, ND. He served as supervisor of the Crystal Township Board, served as president of the Crystal School Board, served on the Crystal Fire District Board and was a member of the Park River Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Crystal, ND; ten children: Connie (Lynn) Johnson, Grafton, ND; Lori O’Toole, Morro Bay, CA; Mike (Jorie) O’Toole, O’Fallon, MO; Janet (David) Foerster, Conway, ND; Nancy (Joel) Mueller, St. Charles, MO; Paul (Sherry) O’Toole, Crystal, ND; Mary (David) Hanson, Colorado Springs, CO; Diane (Dan) Johnson, Nash, ND; David O’Toole, Grand Forks, ND; John O’Toole, Grafton, ND; 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, brother Robert (Judy) O’Toole, Grafton, ND; sister Kathleen (Cornelius) Whalen, Grand Forks, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth and brothers: Dr. James and Patrick O’Toole.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, October 9, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Crystal, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church of Crystal. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery.
