About Leah (Mike) Lucille Stuttle

Leah, also known as Mike by close friends and family and Mimi by here grandchildren Andy and April, was a popular piano player everywhere she went. She began her career at age 10 playing for the silent movies. She was the only one paid the week the owners absconded with all the money. She stood by the door until they paid her to get rid of her. At college she was in the schools dance orchestra directed by Clyde Lucas who later became very famous. But it was at a Fraternity party where she was discovered by George Edwards the brother of Gus Edwards a famous star in Movies, Legitimate Theatre and Vaudeville and became George’s partner touring on the stage. Her stage name was June. Their act was billed as George and June. She spent her twenty-first birthday on the stage. She toured the Midwest and up and down the west coast on the Orpheum Circuit. Her year contract ended in Los Angeles and she came home to marry Jess Stuttle (Golf Pro). They lived in Kansas City MO, Tulsa Oklahoma, and Corpus Christi TX. She won many golf tournaments in the consultation bracket. After all, it wouldn’t do for the Golf Professionals wife to win. It was her personality that endeared people to her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was always happy to be around. She was interested in people and they seemed to flock to her. She had a wide circle of friends: her bridge buddies, golf pals, and her music lovers. In the 70’s played the piano at the Corpus Christi County Club at the piano bar. In her nineties she was performing at Trinity Towers, nursing homes, Thursday Music Club and Parkway Presbyterian Church for special activities. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Parkway Presbyterian Church and Thursday Music Club.
