I started researching my family at the age of 15 (most of this is currently offline - mostly Australian from the 2nd Fleet)
I have been researching my husbands family since 1999 and most of my information is still offline as it takes a long time to input it all and add 3000+ photos and documents. If you have a name we connect on please send me a message and I will try to add my data quickly for you.
Along with my own family I have been gathering information on families they connected with, worked with, lived in the same area with etc. If I can help you with any information I would be glad to.
I have been researching Australian free settlers, convicts and soldiers from 1788 to 1850 for close to 40 years, and a project that I am currently working on is tracking all the 164000 convicts and who they (and their descendants) married as most of these would have been early convicts/settlers/soldiers or their descendants.
Volunteer Curator - As a volunteer curator I actively assist with the World Family Tree - by merging duplicates, curating profiles to stop bad merges or protect sourced data, resolving data conflicts. So you might see me (or other curators) working in profiles near your family. see https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229706727-What-are-Curators- for information on Curators and https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us/articles/229703347-What-is-the-World... and https://www.geni.com/projects/Working-with-the-World-Tree/12429 for information on the World Family Tree
Profile Management - Please request to collaborate instead of requesting profile management or requesting profiles to be added to projects. Geni allows you to automatically add yourself as a manager of your Geni Family so for your "Geni Family" you should be able to manage the profile directly. Collaboration can easily be removed if someone misuse this access, managers cannot be removed. Secondly collaboration requests itself to sending just one request instead of drowning my in-box risking that messages from people who want help do not get through.
Specific Queries - If you need help with a specific line, you will probably get a speedier response from someone (including me) if you post a discussion thread as it will be easier for us to locate the profile in question.
Facebook - I don't use Facebook to do geneaology research - please don't send me facebook messages or friend requests
Deceased persons - When entering data into GENI I will consider everyone over 110 at deceased (according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_oldest_living_people their are only 150 people in the world over 110). If someone is still alive over this age, please let me know and I will immediately amend the record.
Public vs Private - Everyone has a different concept of privacy - profiles that I added that are born in the last 150 years will be set to private which is visible to their Geni family.
Display Names - Where a display name is purely made up of the names in the "Name" fields I will generally remove it as using Display Names can 1) overwrite other users personal viewing preferences 2) hide merge errors
Case - I will generally change all upper or all lower case to proper case as this is the Geni standard for names - ie Capital for the first letter and then lower case for the rest of the name. (Note" Users can choose to display names in Capitals).
