Leon Colchamiro

Like his older brother Jesse, Leon Colchamiro enlisted as a soldier during World War II. Leon fought in the Pacific in the Philippines. He had some very bad experiences and along with most of his company, contracted a fungus infection. When he returned from the war, Leon went to work as a production manager in the dress industry, for a company called Sherwood Fashions. Leon never married. He always lived with his mother, Steroula, in the apartment near Brighton Beach, and helped her in any way he could throughout her life.

Five years after his mother died, Leon, her devoted son, died on the 8th of November 1977, in Brooklyn, New York, due to lung cancer.
