Leonard Bernard Akin, Campbellsville, son of the late Leonard Taff Akin and Mary Lucille Gerdon Akin, was born Dec. 21, 1931 in Glena, Indiana and died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 in Campbellsville.

Akin was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He had been employed as a farmer and an engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.

Akin united in marriage to Geraldine Sowder in Dec. 1963.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine “Jerri” Akin, Campbellsville; one daughter and two sons, Mary Michelle Fisher, Nicholasville, Leonard Mark Akin, Fairfield, and Bernard Michael Akin, Deland, FL; six grandchildren, Bradley Ledford and Leonard Ledford, Nicholasville, Hannah Noel Akin and Luke Mark Akin, Bardstown, and Austin Tyler Akin and Jace Sabe Matthew Akin, Deland, FL; three brothers and two sisters, Ronnie Akin, Greensburg, Danny P. Akin, Floyds Knob, IN, Johnny Akin, Louisville, Betty Smith, Sellersburg, IN, and Lucy Keinsley, Lanesville, IN; and several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Campbellsville by Rev. James Bromwich. Burial in Akin Family Cemetery with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers: Austin Akin, Bernard Michael Akin, Leonaard Mark Akin, Calvin Curry, Bradley Ledford, Doug Ledford and Leonard Ledford.

CAMPBELLSVILLE AKIN, LEONARD, 76, husband of Geraldine, died Saturday, November 8, 2008. Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Visitation: 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
