About Leopold Lazarus

See Hahn, Joachim: Jüdisches Leben in Esslingen. Geschichte, Quellen und Dokumentation, pages 288-289. Translation:

Leopold Lazarus, the third son of Isaac Lazarus (see p.287f.) married Fanny nee Bacher on the 11th of August, 1812. She was born on 16 August 1791 in Hechingen as daughter of Moses Bacher and his wife Sara nee Weil. The couple had thirteen children, several of whom died early and were buried in the old cemetery.

In 1812, Leopold Lazarus and his bride Fanny Bacher were granted the protection of the Wurttemberg in Esslingen. Even though he was the son of a protected Jew, he had, at certain age, to seek protection for himself. Like his father Isaac, he was a goldsmith and worked in Esslingen at the jeweler's trade (WV 1835) and the bijouteriefabrik [jewelry maker] "Lazarus & Comp." (1837, p. 55). In 1830, the family and children were included in Esslinger Bürgerrecht.

In 1837 the family moved to Stuttgart; But they were still counted for a few years in the Esslingen Jewish community. In Stuttgart, Leopold Lazarus worked as a hobbyist and a jeweler. According to the Stuttgart address books from 1851 to 1854, his gold-ware store was located in Konigsstraße 43. Leopold died on 6 March 1856 in Stuttgart and his wife Fanny on 19 February 1857. Both were buried in the Israelite part of the Hoppenlau cemetery.
