About Leroy George Wasinger

Gazette, The (Colorado Springs, CO) - Sunday, January 25, 2015

In Memory of "Leroy G. Wasinger" aka "Butch". Brought into this world by his two loving parents, Joseph and Amy Wasinger (both deceased) on Dec. 21 1941. Leroy passed January 7, 2015.

Leroy attended St Mary's, South Jr and Widefield High School. Even though he did not officially graduate he did march off into the Army to serve his nation and received his GED while serving in the military. After serving a short time in Hawaii, he landed back in the Colorado Springs area where he spent most of his time at the Kwik inn Shak, Giuseppe's and Navajo Hogan's.

After leaving the Army, he worked civil service on the railroad at Fort Carson. He married Sadie Kastner and together they raised 5 children: Myron, Chester, Larry, Rhonda & Tammy. After retiring from civil service, his love for children really shone through when he became a beloved bus driver for Falcon District 49.

Leroy & Sadie were married for almost 20 years before Sadie passed away. A few years later Leroy met and married Judy Sumner adding Joni Bush-Velo to his list of kids. Judy preceded Leroy in death by just a few months. He was also preceded in death by his sister Tess, his granddaughter Cassandra & his great granddaughter Marni Elizabeth. Leroy left behind many loved ones, including his brothers, Rusty and Fred, his sisters, Juanita, Barbara, and Betty, his grandchildren, Wendy, Steven, Michael, Pierce, Owen, Jacob, Josh and Caitlin, and 11 great grandchildren. He also left us with many happy memories, he will be missed greatly.

There will be a celebration of Leroy's life on January 31st 2015 at Fraternal Order of Eagles Pikes Peak Aerie #143 located at 1050 South 21st Street here in Colorado Springs from 2pm-6pm please bring memories and pictures to share.
