Levyno Botha (1951 - 2021)
Brief overview:
Levyno (70), who worked as a salesman in the agricultural industry for almost 50 years, was shot in the back when five armed perpetrators broke into the family home on their smallholding in Kameeldrift East, outside Pretoria, on 25th September 2021 at around 01h00.
The attackers gained entry in the house by breaking the burglar bars, and overpowered Levyno in his bedroom. His wife, Amelia (64) was in another bedroom at the time, but she went to investigate when she heard noises, and stumbled on the perpetrators who were ransacking the house. They restrained her, and she begged them not to harm her or her husband, after which they let her go and she ran out of the back door.
Amelia called her son, Marcel, who also lives on the property, and when he came to assist the attackers shot at him but missed. Levyno ran into the lounge where Marcel was to check on him and one of the armed perpetrators fired a bullet through the window which entered Levyno's back killing him.
According to Marcel's wife Nadi, the police and the K9 dog unit arrived at the scene on Saturday. However, the family has not yet received a case number from the police.The Kilo Delta security group was also on the scene as well as Koot Momberg, a pastor of the Doxa Deo congregation in the area
A forensic photographer arrived around 07h00 and Levyno's body was taken.
The only items stolen were Levyno's mobile phone and wallet.
Levyno leaves behind his wife Amelia, four children and six grandchildren.
