About Lewis Franklin
Lewis was a Rev. War Soldier who enlisted in Surry County, NC in 1778, having moved from Orange County, VA - served 10 months. He then moved back to Orange County, VA in the Fall of 1778 and served as a Guard in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, VA. In the Winter of 1779 he removed to Henry County, VA where he also served with General Green and was at the surrender of Cornwallis. He drove a wagon with provisions & received a pension at 74 yrs old (13 Nov 1832)

Background Notes
While most of the Franklins who were born in and grew up in Orange County, Virginia prior to the Revolutionary War have been connected to Lawrence or Edward Franklin, there are a number of Franklin "orphans" of the same generation whose parents and relationships with each other are more of a mystery. These are:
Lewis Franklin (b. 1758), probably the son of a Franklin woman and a Pearson man.
